Usage

Step 1 - Adding your pages into sitemap file

Open "Tools" - "Crawler"
Enter your website's root URL

Click "Start" button and the crawler will crawl your site's pages for URL. If your website has more than hundreds of pages crawling will take some time. Once your website is crawled, your URLs will be added to your sitemap file.

You can save your Index file if you need to continue crawling later, you can easily open your Index file from Crawler "File" - "Open Index" menu.
Now close the Crawler.

Step 2 - Saving sitemap file and uploading

Save your sitemap file wherever you want on your local drive and then open "Tools" - "Upload Sitemap"

Add a FTP connection and press Upload Sitemap, the program will automatically upload your sitemap file to your remote directory.

Step 3 - Search engines Notification about your sitemap.

Open "Tools" - "Notify search engines". In opened dialog box enter the URL of your sitemap and press "Notify"

Now you must just wait the search engines to crawl your pages.

Importing or Opening from Web

Export HTML site map

With HTML site map export tool you can create HTML site map for your website on basis of URLs that were found by crawler. When you open an already created XML sitemap with Sitemap Writer Pro program and export to HTML site map you must fill up missing titles. Just press "Collect missing titles" and the program will automatically collect and fill up the missing titles of URLs. If you export HTML site map directly after crawling you do not need to collect missing titles, they will be automatically inserted.

ATTN: Titles must be in latin letters or web site must be in UTF-8 (Unicode) encoding in order to display characters properly.

After you have all the titles of the URLs you should change the HTML site map page web properties as you need. All the parameters you can change directly in the program and the results can be viewed by pressing "Preview". After adjusting the HTML site map page properties you can export it to HTML format ("Export") or just upload it to your web server through FTP manager ("Upload").

Tools - Crawler

• Crawler is a powerfull tool which will help you add URLs of your site into the sitemap. Just input your site's root URL and press "Start".
  
  

• After the crawling complete you will see "Crawler Report".

• If your site is too large to crawl in few hours, you can stop the crawler (click on the "Stop" button) and save (Crawler's "File" menu - "Save Index") a sitemap index file (.SMIF) and continue crawling later (Crawler's "File" menu - " Open Index" and click "Continue").
  
  
• Crawler settings - Set settings of the crawler (crawlable extensions and exclude paths). Check the "Include Subdomains" check box to include subdomains like "http://en.emergency-soft.com" when crawling the site "http://emergency-soft.com". You can also add your sites list in order for the next time when you are going to input your site's root URL you can just select it from a drop down menu.

Tools - Upload Sitemap

Uploading a sitemap - Press the "Add FTP Connection" button to customise FTP connection of your site.

Enter name of your connection, host, user name, password and remote directory where the sitemap file will be uploaded.

Then choose a connection and press "Upload Sitemap".

Tools - Notify search engines

Input your sitemap URL and press "Notify". Google notification success message is "Sitemap Notification Received". Yahoo notification success message is "Update notification has successfully submitted". Ask.com notification success message is "Your Sitemap submission was successful". MSN (Live.com) - "Thanks for submitting your sitemap". Moreover.com notification success message is "Thank you for your ping. The moreover database will be updated with the new data from your url as soon as possible". If notification failed, try to notify the search engines later.

Tools - Sitemap index editor

You can provide multiple Sitemap files, but each Sitemap file that you provide must have no more than 50,000 URLs and must be no larger than 10MB (10,485,760 bytes). If you would like, you may compress your Sitemap files using gzip to stay within 10MB and reduce your bandwidth requirement. If you want to list more than 50,000 URLs, you must create multiple Sitemap files.

If you do provide multiple Sitemaps, you should then list each Sitemap file in a Sitemap index file. Sitemap index files may not list more than 1,000 Sitemaps and must be no larger than 10MB (10,485,760 bytes).

Add your XML sitemaps' URLs, save your Sitemap index file and upload to web server directly from Sitemap index editor tool.
